Abstract

The paper aims to provide information on the performance analysis of a diesel engine using diesel, OPB10, and OPB20 blends by considering the parameters like EP, BTE, BSFC, and THL using a mathematical model. The results of the study revealed that with the increase in compression ratio values, BSFC/THL will increase while EP will decrease; BTE is unaffected by compression ratio. With the rise in the proportion of OPB, BTE, EP, and THL will decline, while BSFC will increase. With the increase in piston speeds, BSFC, EP, and THL will increase, while BTE will decline. Optimal performance takes place at an equivalence ratio of 1, resulting in up to 37% higher EP and 30% lower BSFC/THL than the extremes. Diesel performs better than the blends (as shown by 33% higher EP at 11 m/s pistons), yet OPB provides the basis for a viable waste-to-fuel concept. The results demonstrate the integration of the OPB into transportation/agricultural engines and provide evidence for the implementation, in line with the Indian government’s mandates on biofuels. The focus in the future could be on experimental validation, the application of nano additives for emission reduction, and AI optimization, especially under transient operating conditions
